Fight 4- Start of Tourney rounds

Next 5 fights are are the first round of a single-elimination tournament that is ongoing. If these fighters lose, they are out, so hopefully we will see some intense action and heart!

Omar De La Cruz vs Victor Meza

Cruz and Meza go back and forth jockeying for position most of round 1. Cruz did get on Meza’s back and almost got a choke hold on him, but Meza defended well and esacped the danger. More wrestling back and forth for position, but noone really got any good holds.

round 2- Cruz got on Meza’s back really quick into the round and almost got a chokehold a few times, but wasnt able to get his arm under Meza’s chin. More rolling around and no punching- I think I have counter 10 punches total the whole fght, and those were from Cruz trying to get meza off guard to secure the choke. round 2 ends with not much action again, but Cruz is definitely controlling this fight so far. Referee took a point away from Meza in between rounds, probably from Meza grabbing Cruz’ gloves while trying to avoid a choke.

round 3- Meza threw 2 knees at Cruz’ face out of frustration. The first glanced him and hit his shoulder, but Meza held Cruz’ head down and clocked him right in the chin with his right knee. The ref immediately stopped the action, deducted a point from meza, and trianers are checking to see if Cruz is ok. Fight was stopped for about 2 minutes. The referee called the fighters back to the middle and made sure Meza is not going to do that again!

Meza came out with a big hit and got Cruz down on the ground. He obviously doesnt want to lose this one by decision and is fighting hard to come back. Both figthers fought for position on the ground for about a minute, before the ref stood them back up.  Meza came out with a huge hit right away, and then they were right back down to the ground. Meza landed a few good shots right at the end, but the bell sounded and it was too late. I predict Cruz wins 29-27.

Judges score 30-24. 30-24. and 30-25. De La Cruz wins be unanimous decision.
